What is Mindful Primary Schools?

Mindful Primary Schools provides professional development in the areas of mindfulness and resilience, for teachers, relief teachers, education assistants, deputy principals, principals and other educators that work with primary school-aged children, Foundation (P/K/PP/R/T) to Year 6.

What Makes Mindful Primary Schools Different?

OUR TEACHERS LEAD BY EXAMPLE

As Jon Kabat Zin (a pioneer in modern mindfulness) says, "the first principle of teaching mindfulness is - are you living it?". So Mindful Primary Schools teaches you not only how to teach mindfulness lessons, but also how to deeply integrate mindfulness into the classroom and into your own life. That way you lead by example, and by being authentically mindful, others around you will naturally want to follow your lead, and you and your students will benefit as a result.

NO ADDITIONAL RESOURCES NEEDED FOR ALMOST ALL LESSONS

Almost all of the mindfulness lesson plans you'll receive require no additional resources, which means you can easily teach it anywhere. You don't need an IWB/screen. You don't need speakers and music (although you can put music on if you like). Mindful Primary Schools provide you with lesson plans, so all you need to do is keep those handy.

SIMPLE 10-15 MINUTE LESSON PLANS

Mindful Primary School lesson plans make teaching mindfulness easy. They provide you with a script you can use (but you don't have to read it word for word), as well as curriculum linkages and much more.

You can try 3 free mindfulness lesson plans here, or you can purchase a Mindfulness Pack with 32 lessons plans here. Our free PD webinars also provide you with 5 free lesson plans.

Note - it is recommended you watch one of our PD webinars before using the Mindful Primary School lesson plans.

Michael Batskos - Mindful Primary Schools Founder

Michael Batskos is a primary school teacher, yoga teacher and mindfulness facilitator that lives in Perth, Western Australia. His personal experience with mindfulness began in 2005 when he experienced anxiety and panic attacks. Michael was introduced to mindfulness by a psychologist later that year. After incorporating mindfulness into his life, Michael soon realised that he felt significantly more calm and relaxed, and as a result, he was hooked! He later completed his yoga teacher training, undertook a research project on mindfulness in primary schools at university, became a certified mindfulness facilitator, deepened his own personal practice and incorporated mindfulness into his classrooms in WA and NSW. After several years of teaching yoga and mindfulness, Michael started Mindful Primary Schools to help make a difference in the lives of children, and share his love of mindfulness with other primary school teachers and educators. Michael has provided mindfulness PD to thousands of educators across Australia and around the world.
